Welcome to Intelligent Intervention!
According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, 40% of fourth graders in the U.S. and one-third of eighth graders read below the basic level. These students are unable to fully access the core curriculum due to poor reading skills which manifests a negative cumulative effect with each passing year. Sadly, this sobering statistic has remained constant over the past 20 years and most likely applies to the children in your community too.
As a teacher with over 30 years of K-12 experience, I noticed that while school districts often publicize incremental gains in academic literacy, a disturbing long-term trend along the lines of mediocrity has become a consistent annual occurrence. So, to help disrupt this familiar pattern, I created a novel neurolinguistic approach to reading instruction that effectively bridges the proverbial gap between learning theory and practice. Highly-structured multimedia lessons and engaging activities quickly equip underachieving students with fundamental reading and writing skills, enabling them to experience success in school.
Like many other retired teachers, I have accumulated a treasure trove of instructional methods and techniques that were honed and perfected over the years. This blogsite will provide teachers with a glimpse into my digital toolbox so that they can be inspired to explore new innovative ways of helping their students.
Both teachers and parents of children in grades 2-6 who are struggling academically can finally rest assured that there is actually light at the end of the tunnel. Please feel free to contact me by email (intellintervention@gmail.com) with any questions, comments or requests.
Note: Although the actual program, Intelligent Intervention, is no longer available the unique methods and techniques that were employed can easily be implemented in any classroom.
